C.C. McGee School Resource Officer of the Year

CCMcGee Each year, at the Annual Conference, a member of the NC Association of School Resource Officers is recognized as the CC McGee School Resource Officer of the Year for their outstanding contributions to their school, law enforcement agency, and community. This award is named in honor of the late CC McGee, former Assistant Sheriff of Forsyth County , a founding member of and a past president of NCASRO. Assistant Sheriff McGee constantly worked to implement and advance the School Resource Officer concept. He served both as a School Resource Officer, and as a Supervisor of School Resource Officer's during his distinguished career!

Deputy Anthony Alexander – Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office

Deputy Anthony Alexander was employed as a Jailer from Oct. 1986 to March 1987. Deputy Alexander worked for the Elizabeth City Police Department from March 1987 to December 1990. After working for the Police Department for a few years he moved on to work for the City of Cary Police during December 1990 to July 1991. Deputy Alexander went back to the Elizabeth City Police Department and worked to the Rank of Patrol Sergeant between August 1991 and July 2003. Deputy Alexander also received the Criminal Justice Instructor Training course in April 1997. Other achievements that Deputy Alexander received were for Supervision Management in 1992. He was awarded the Certificate of Honor for Omega PSI Phi Fraternity, in 1993. Deputy Alexander also was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation by United States Department of Justice for Assistance to US Marshals Service in 1994 in Federal Court for the trial of Phillip Barrigan. Deputy Alexander was employed with the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office in 2003 when he was hired as a Deputy III School Resource Officer. Deputy Alexander has completed the School Resource Officers Training and has had several letters of merit from the School Principal for things he has done at the school as a Resource Officer.

Deputy Alexander is an outstanding officer. He works very well with the staff, students, and parents at Northeastern High School. The students show him respect because he doesn’t look down on anyone and always tries to defuse the situations before they escalate into an explosion of bad behavior. Deputy Alexander is a wonderful role model for the students to look up to and he helps instill the moral qualities that the students should take out into the world after they have graduated. Since Deputy Alexander was appointed as the School Resource Officer at Northeastern High School they have received many years of the Super Safe School, Triple “S” awards. Deputy Alexander is a valued employee of the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office and I have been very pleased with what he has contributed to my department since he was hired. Deputy Alexander has created several videos concerning Prom Safety Programs, Peer Mediation with students, and Safety of the facility using Crime Prevention through Environmental Design which contained information concerning the law and crime prevention that is accessible to all students, faculty, and staff. Deputy Alexander created a page in the school’s bulletin concerning Crime Prevention and Property Safety while on Campus. He is available to assist in counseling of students when needed to help encourage them to succeed. In addition to the above listed achievements, Deputy Alexander has received many hours of specialized training as well as in-service training and on the job training where he received numerous certificates of completion.
